Greetings from Heaven

In April our nephew and niece, Matt and Patrice, lost their sweet baby Gabe at 37 weeks. He and Jake were born only a couple of weeks apart, and it broke my heart like nothing else in recent memory.

This beach trip is the first chance for Grayson's family, including all of the boys' cousins, to meet Jake ... and Gabe should have been here, too. Early in the week, as the kids were playing on the deck during a light rain, a rainbow appeared, stretching from one end of the beach to the other ... for most of the kids, it was their first rainbow. And I got all misty, because I knew it was Gabe grinning down at us from Heaven, saying "Nice to meet you all! Can't wait to see you when you get here."

Thanks, Gabe, for that moment. We love you so much.

I just found this post tonight after finding your letter to Jonah through his site. You guys are all so awesome. I cannot immagine all the emotions of the birth of your child at the same time as the loss of Gabe, and now this with Jonah. God put Jonah together with his parents for a reason.....just like you, a wonderful Auntie! Carol

Oh gracious I have fallen in love with your family! So precious. I love how you guys are clinging for dear life to Dear Life.

In case you're wondering, I am Matt Sloan's sister (he and my sister-in-law, Leslie, are friends with Patrice and Matt).

Praying for you guys!

I don't even know you or Gabe and Jonah's family, but I am a Young Life leader who has heard about little Jonah and we've all been praying over here in our NC area of YL. I just read a few posts on Jonah's blog and then I was led to yours, and this one brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't help but comment. Praying still...

Hi, Anonymous in NC! Thank you so much for praying for Jonah. Young Life is special to our family, as several family members were active in YL and made some lifelong friends there.
