Last Saturday we celebrated Nick's 4th birthday at McWane Science Center in downtown Birmingham. It was an "Animal Adventure" with an up-close animal experience. The kids got to pet a leopard gecko and a python, and they got to see a large tarantula up close. But the very first animals they brought out were hissing cockroaches.
Mama never said there were gonna be cockroaches. I couldn't get close to them, but I did take a picture (cockroaches in picture are farther away than they appear):
Bleckkk. The rest of the animals were pretty cool, and I was impressed at how many of the kids were willing to touch them!

My parents never got me any cockroaches at my birthday parties. I'm pretty jealous.
