Jake is 'normal'!

Great news, everyone! Jake's CT results were NORMAL, so his skull plates are still open and are allowing his brain to grow in normal patterns. He DOES have plagiocephaly (a flat area) on the back of his head, as well as a small bulge on his forehead as a corresponding result.

Therefore, our pediatrician has recommended that we look at a helmet for him, similar to what Nathaniel wore for the same reason five years ago:


Nathaniel wore that helmet from July 4 to Nov. 25, 2003 ... so we're familiar with that. Wearing a helmet is Small Peanuts compared to what could have been, so we are very happy. Plus, the helmets have come a long way since Nathaniel's trendy royal blue football helmet ... they are open at the top now for better ventilation, for one thing, which would be a HUGE improvement, believe me.

And I would LIKE to think they've made progress in the way they fit so that I wouldn't have to worry about walking in on THIS every morning:


It's a miracle his head ever straightened out, since he seemed to turn the helmet 180 degrees every night while he was sleeping!
