Totally freaking my husband out
While recounting a phone conversation I had with a friend yesterday to Grayson ...
Me: "So, the long and short of it is, she seems to be pretty unhappy."
Grayson: "How serious is it? I mean, did she mention The D Word?"
Me: "Well, no, but I got the sense that, you know, it's been tough lately and ... when you grow up in a spiritual home and your parents had a strong marriage ... your brain doesn't even necessarily GO there. It's probably more like, you know the old saying, 'We've all had that plane crash fantasy'."
Grayson: [incredulously] "WHAT? NO, I'VE NEVER HEARD THAT. Who are you hanging around with? How is a plane crash preferable? WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?"
Me: "No, no, no. It's not MY phrase ... it's just A phrase. You know, just a funny phrase!"
Grayson: "That is NOT funny."

I've never heard that "saying" either. I'm not even sure I understand what it means...that you hope your spouse dies in a plane crash so you don't have to be married to them anymore instead of just getting a divorce?
I'm with Grayson. Yikes.
I can't remember where I heard it originally, but I think it was a wife's rant at a time when she was frustrated with her husband. It was said in a joking way, but yeah, it's a little sick.
