Nathaniel and Nicholas have quite an aversion to public toilets. They are pretty much initially scared of ALL of them, because they are afraid that they're of the automatic-flush variety. More specifically, of the LOUD automatic-flush variety.
It COMPLETELY freaks them out to be sitting on a toilet at Wal-Mart or the Mexican restaurant and to have the toilet flush before they're done. Nicholas invariably covers his ears and yells, "I don't want to be FLOSHED." (I can't say that I blame them, really. I always try to rise before that nasty film of spray hits me during the auto-flush, too.)
So I'm always relieved when I take them to a public restroom that has the old-fashioned flush-it-yourself kind of toilets. Less drama.
I can only IMAGINE the panic that would ensue if we were to visit THIS toilet, as seen over at Fail:

Oh my gosh. The poor person that discovered that malfunction. I'm laughing so hard I'm crying. Thanks for sharing. My husband loves failblog.
There's basically no way to anticipate it and therefore GET OUT OF THE WAY, other than listening intently and watching for the telltale shifting of feet before your neighbor flushes. AND I'M NOT ABOVE DOING ANY OF THAT.
Thats funny! I thought my kids were the only ones who hated those toilets!
Angie, I love the fact that although you're an SAHM (I work), and you're passionate about homebirthing (I'm all about hospitals), vbacs (I never had a section), natural healing (does Neosporin count?), homeschooling (we'd all want to kill each other), and running (I do it but I hate it), you can still find things to enjoy about my blog. You must also be very tolerant! Welcome, and thanks for taking the time to comment to let me know you're around.
