The boys' bathroom

Kelly is hosting Show Us Where You Live Friday today, and everyone is invited. Today, it's all about Bathrooms. And since our master bathroom is a little hole-in-the-wall (it's really a three-quarters bath; it has a shower but no tub), I thought I'd share our boys' bathroom instead.

When you walk in the door, the vanity is on the left, with a window that looks out onto the backyard straight ahead. It's painted sort of a Wedgwood blue color, and I think eventually I'll go brown. Brown? NO KIDDING. Eventually we'll all just be living in a brown haze. I LOVE MY BROWN. Could it be related to my beloved UPS? PROBABLY.

To the left of the door as you enter is the vanity, which has two sinks. The countertops are old laminate, but they're in pretty good condition with no stains, so I haven't spent the money to upgrade them ... yet. It's on my list.

Here's a wider view of the vanity. The mirror is just one of those huge, plain wall-mounted deals, but I cut crown moulding to length and glued it on with liquid nails to dress it up a little. It actually made a nice impact in this little room.

The floor is basic four-inch white porcelain tile, another item to replace on my wish list! I have a beautiful double vanity with a marble top picked out at -- where else? -- Pottery Barn, but it will have to wait. Probably for years. But I can dream ...

This print and the one by the door to the bathroom (second picture) are by artist Joy Alldredge, and I picked them up at our local seasonal craft show "Christmas Village." I recycled them from the boys' bedroom when I hung their new Star Wars prints.

This hanging shelf came from PB several years ago (like maybe 10), and I thought it would be as functional as it is cute. It's really not, since those three little cubbies are pretty small. I used to have a loofa and some soaps in there, but it felt too cluttered, so now the center hole just holds a picture of my sister and my parents on my sister's prom night eons ago. Any suggestions for the open cubbies? Also featured in this picture is Our Great Toilet. We replaced all three of our toilets last year with this Toto model, and we have loved them. When you live with 25-year-old toilets for 10 years, new toilets make you want to dance a little jig.

Lastly, here's the shower area. I'd show you the inside, but it's just more four-inch white porcelain tile ... nothing to write home about. Plus, I would have had to pick up all the toys in the tub, and I'd much rather have you go on believing that I am the type of person who never leaves bath toys in the tub to dry, the type of person who has an immaculate tub 24/7. Because that's the kind of person I'd LIKE to be!

Thanks for touring!

I like the color. Try and resist the brown. This bathroom is very nice and I would love a 3/4 master bath right now. I hate sharing with hubs.

I love the bathroom! And I love the color blue :) Every time I think of painting a room in our house, blue pops into mind (so like your love for brown, we'll soon be living in an all blue house...)

That's really a nice-sized room. Our kids aren't quite so lucky with their bathroom, but it'll do. I love the shelf. As for the cubbies - would they hold small wooden toys? I'm thinking some small trucks that would blend in with the theme from the prints.

Many, many thanks to all of you who've complimented the bathroom! I was out of town all weekend without e-mail access (I felt Amish!), but it was so nice to come home to all the kind words. Thanks again!

This is the perfect webpage for anyone who hopes to find out about this topic.
You know a whole lot its almost hard to argue with you (not
that I really would want to…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a subject
that has been written about for many years. Great stuff, just wonderful!
