Today BooMama is having a DipTacular party in honor of some kind of sport season kicking off this weekend. (Football? Soccer? Baseball? I'm not really into sports.)
I thought I'd share my two Very Favorites, which are exceedingly easy to make and are the best-tasting dips I've ever had. They are also total crowd pleasers, in my experience.
First, the Chicken Cheese Ball, which has the added bonus of being the basis of a tremendous chicken salad sandwich the next day if you have leftovers (which I HAVEN'T the last few times I've made it. Boooo.) Because it's got a lot of chicken in it, the men usually gravitate toward this one. It's very filling!
Chicken Cheese Ball
(also great chicken salad!)
3 cans chicken, drained
1 c. mayonnaise
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
½ tsp. garlic salt
½ c. chopped pecans
seedless red grapes, halved (or quartered, if you're a real go-getter)
In a large bowl, mix chicken, mayo and cream cheese. Add grapes. If making the cheese ball, shape the mixture into a ball and pat pecans onto the outside. If making chicken salad, add the pecans into the mixture evenly. Chill to serve.
Great with any type of cracker or sliced granny smith apples – as well as on a croissant or sandwich bread.

Note to hostesses of parties I attend: If there is a dip in a bread bowl, you can find me right in front of it. As a matter of fact, it would be most convenient if you could set up a Satellite Dipping Station on a TV tray or something over in the corner, so I can just stand there and eat this dip all night long. Because when we get to the last of the dip, that's when the fun begins. I will start tearing that bowl apart like nobody's business, eating the Cheese-saturated Goodness that is the bread bowl.
Cheese Dip in a Bread Bowl
King Hawaiian bread
3/4 c. mayo
1/2 c. sour cream
8 oz. cream cheese
1 bag sliced chopped beef (cheap luncheon meat I can only find at Bruno's)
4 oz. mozzarella
7 oz. Swiss (you have to grate it yourself)
garlic powder
Combine ingredients. Hollow out bread bowl and put cheese dip inside. Cover with foil and bake at 325 for 90 minutes. Serve with bread and Fritos.

You can now find grated swiss cheese and they have that beef at walmart.
I make the cheese dip in a bread bowl ALL the time for different functions.....it is AWESOME! And I was so gonna post that as my recipe, you beat me to it!!
