We woke up to a light dusting in Birmingham this morning.
The big boys went out early and threw snowballs. Jake investigated on the deck later.
He was impressed.
It really WAS very pretty, and there was no snow or ice on the roads, so it wasn't dangerous.
Since it was safe to drive, we piled in the minivan at 9:00 and headed to the elementary school for Nathaniel's holiday program and breakfast with Santa.
The house behind the school looked like something out of a winter fairytale.
You can tell that Nathaniel was THRILLED -- just THRILLED! -- to be up on stage. This was right before the performance began.
Did you know elementary school cafeterias have nosebleed seats? They do. We were in them.
It was a cute show. I even have a 30-second video, but I didn't think you'd want to be subjected to even 30 seconds of "I Have a Little Dreidel" or "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." I figured you'd just rather take my word for it.
Afterward, the boys hopped up on Santa's lap for a picture. I'm sort of surprised they wanted to, especially since Nick took it upon himself to announce to the houseful of kids at Thanksgiving that There Is No Santa Claus. But he hopped on board this morning, and all was well.
Our holiday season is off to a rousing start!
