Last night when Grayson got to daycare, our son was in the office with the Center Director, because he had been hitting the littler kids in his classroom.
Our Son JAKE.
Mm-hmm. That one. And when Grayson told me about it, I had an immediate flashback to this unfortunate incident from three years ago.
HOLD ME.
I can't imagine where he's learned such behavior ... certainly not from our older boys, whom it seems can't go four minutes without a swordfight, wrestling match or well-placed shot to the groin for no reason at all.
And it couldn't possibly be from his father, who laughed uncontrollably while Jakey was pelting me with crayons night before last as I helped Nathaniel with his homework at the kitchen table, who kept providing him with ammunition and saying, "But it's so cute!"
Speaking of the daddy in the house, today is his 40th birthday! Happy birthday to the one who steals my covers at night, leaves his clothes wherever they fall off, won't shut up about how annoyed he is with baseball, and took away all my credit cards. That man happens to share a body with the one who shoulders half of the parenting responsibilities around here, cooks on the weekends, goes to baseball practice anyway, and is trying to pay off all our debt by 2014. So basically what I'm saying is, he's worth it.
Happy birthday, honey. I love you.
