I'm glad you guys like the Crocs. :) Every summer we buy each of the boys a pair, and they have to make it to the next summer with that pair ... even if a strap breaks or the soles wear out or whatever.
In the past I've really encouraged solid colors, but this year I let them pick with no caveats except that they be under $30. They love them!
Do their crocs actually make it a year? I've always gotten the cheapie ones at Wal Mart and this year I can't find them anywhere, at all. I've checked everywhere and just felt that $25 was to much to much to pay for the real deal but I'm starting to consider it seeing as I can't find them anywhere.
Rachel, Yes, they pretty much make it a full year. We've only owned one pair of non-Croc Crocs, and they didn't last as long. Of course, we also had one pair of Crocs that we wore out really early, and the strap snapped on one of the shoes before we'd had them 10 months. But other than that, we have had really good experiences with Crocs.
I consider $30 for shoes that my kids love, that they can wear indoors and out, to/in the pool, beach and creek, and that last 11 or 12 months to be a real bargain. Since they fit a little loosely anyway, the kids' feet have yet to grow enough in 11 months that they outgrow the shoes. The only issue we have consistently is that the tread gets worn out around the 9-month mark, so they're not quite as safe for running on slick surfaces at that point (such as our kitchen floor).
