Jake went to the movies and all you got were these lousy pictures

We've been waiting for MONTHS for Toy Story 3 ("Toh Stoh TEE!") to come out. We'd planned long ago that it would be Jakey's first movie ... the other boys were 2 years old when they saw their first movies (Cars and Flushed Away, respectively), and we thought Jakey was ready.

He was SO excited when we said it was time to go! He could hardly wait to get to the theatre.

Once we got there, he found the poster on the wall.

In a brilliant piece of cross-marketing, LEGO partnered with Pixar and produced a companion magazine for the movie, which we were handed free at the door (one for each of them). OH THE HAPPINESS.

Once inside, Jakey and I staked out the perfect seats (halfway up, right in the middle).

(What is it with people who prefer aisle seats? I can't do them. It gives me a migraine to have to tilt my head even slightly to the left or right to watch a movie.)

Jakey enjoyed his magazine and then the previews and movie. I would have taken more pictures, but I didn't want to use the flash in there. You're going to have to trust me when I tell you he was beyond adorable-to-the-max.

I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, but I don't think I'm giving anything away to say that there were a couple of really scary scenes. Jakey started rocking front to back and saying, "No no no no no no no no ..." at one point, and then he started whimpering at another point. I had to let him know that everything was going to be OK ... AND I'M GLAD THEY DIDN'T MAKE A BIG FAT LIAR OUT OF ME. I was reassuring him with absolutely no knowledge to back it up. (That's one of my strengths.)

My own personal review would be four out of five stars, which is the same rating I would give the original film. I give TS2 the full five stars ... it remains my favorite. But I will say that I absolutely recommend TS3, and I did shed some tears near the end ... it tugged at my heartstrings. Come to think of it, I really ought to subtract a star just for reminding me that one day MY boys will be leaving me and their special toys to go off to college. I CAN'T EVEN GO THERE.

We are planning on seeing the movie Monday morning, and it will be Jackson's first time to the movies.

Can you elaborate on "really scary" without giving too much away? The last thing I want is for Jackson to be scarred from his first trip to the movies.

Aw, it breaks my heart that he was saying, "no, no, no" during the scary parts. That's so awful!

Didn't that baby doll remind of you of mom's old baby doll, but even less creepy?

Amy, Ummm, how much do you want to know? In two scenes that were pretty close together, the toys were involved in very-near-death experiences. It was very dramatic! The second one possibly scarred me for life. ;) BUT it turned out OK in the end.

SET, yes to the doll.
