Well, Amelia's story is officially beginning! I can't believe it's already time, but Grayson brought me to the hospital this afternoon at 4:30.
I had previously been scheduled to come in tomorrow morning at 6:30, but at Friday's office visit, my OB changed it to today. He wanted to insert a cervical balloon to help my cervix thin out tonight so that I'd be primed for induction tomorrow morning.
We were here at 4:30, and I had the balloon inserted by 5:03. When he told me it would be "uncomfortable," HE LIED, just for the record. The insertion was extraordinarily painful, and it lasted about six or seven minutes. However, once it was complete, the cramping that was supposed to follow for a couple of hours and actually be "painful," has actually been fine.
I've already had nubane to help with pain from the contractions that have started, but it's manageable at this point. I'm here all by myself, and I'm hoping that my whole family can get a good night's rest so they can be here to cheer us on bright and early in the morning. However, I've already got them on alert because I feel like Amelia might make more progress overnight than we're prepared for, and may not wait until 6:30 a.m. to start thinking about introducing herself to the world.
The nurses have all had a good laugh at my expense because I brought a power strip in my overnight bag and now have my laptop, phone and camera all charging, sitting in bed with me like a child's beloved stuffed animals. I explained that I have a blog and people are counting on me! :)
When Grayson left to go back home, I told him I'd call and let them all know how I'm doing. But then I was like, "Well, and you follow me on Twitter, so ......"
I'm going to do my best to keep you guys updated via Twitter and the blog. I appreciate your continued prayers and support! More later.
