Because work has overtaken my life lately and I haven't even taken any pictures of my kids this week, I'm taking a cue from Kim today and throwing some good, old-fashioned minutia at you. She posted 48, and I picked the 10 I
1. Were you named after anyone?
My parents just liked the name Katherine, and my mom chose to spell it with a K rather than a C because she thought it made a prettier monogram. (If you thought you were in possession of the most Southern thought process in the history of history, you were wrong. MY MOTHER JUST TRUMPED IT.) As for my middle name, Elise, that is my dad's mother's name. She is 95 and a total pistol. I hope I'm exactly like her when I'm 95.
2. Do you like your handwriting?
I do. For some reason, I ended up with neat handwriting ... perhaps because my dad's an engineer? I don't know. When I'm in a hurry, I scribble, but in general I like to keep my handwriting neat and tidy.
3. If you were another person, would you be friends with yourself?
I think so! Some people take to me like a fish to water, but I've had a couple of people (who are long-time friends now) tell me I was an acquired taste. By the way, that's kind of an awkward moment, if you were wondering ... when a friend tells you you're an "acquired taste." I don't even think you can pretend that's a compliment. Can you? Well. Let's pretend.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
No.
5. What is your favorite cereal?
OMG, why don't you ask me if I have a favorite CHILD. Fruity Pebbles, Lucky Charms, Corn Pops, Frosted Flakes with banana cut up on top.
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Whether they are smiling or not. Also, if they have some sort of unsightly growth on their face.
7. What is the technique that you need to work on the most?
How to eat spaghetti without cutting up the noodles into tiny pieces.
8. What was the last thing you ate?
A handful of conversation hearts. NO, not for breakfast. Although I can understand why you went there.
9. How important are your political views to you?
Not that important. I find that I can be swayed to either viewpoint on virtually every issue by a good debater, simply because I think that both sides have valid points in many ways. Also, I feel like my views on issues like the death penalty are apparently subject to change when they affect me personally. For example, I was probably more against it before Kyser was murdered, and then when he was killed I leaned the opposite direction. The most bizarre thing to me about laws is that we are still largely voluntarily dependent on a Constitution that was written by a small group of men who lived in an entirely different America centuries ago. I think that is probably why I place so little importance on politics ... and why I choose not to engage in conversation about it, here or anywhere else. That just frustrates me.
10. What is the farthest you've been from home?
Kauai, Hawaii. Grayson and I went on our 10th anniversary in 2005, and I'm going back with my sister and my friend Melanie this April for an early 40th birthday trip. I'm so excited!
